When we are not on Safari with you...

If you've been to Gwango, you know that we are all about earth friendly "outside-the-box" ideas - which is why we are excited to invite you to help us challenge the kids in our area to innovate!

As part of the new Gwango STEM Initiative (GSI), headmasters from 9 secondary schools surrounding Hwange National Park will host the first annual "Career Pathways" event to be held at Marist Brothers High School on 29 January 2016. Almost 800 students aged 13-15 years-old will benefit from a day of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) exploration and career guidance!

The students selected to participate are all part of the incoming Form 1 class of 2016. Most of them attend impoverished schools where biology, chemistry and physics are not part of their current school curriculum. The goal of the Career Pathways event is to engage and inspire our students to learn about STEM, get excited about STEM and pursue a STEM related occupation.

Teachers from local schools will also attend the event to be followed by a series of Teacher Professional Development workshops and other students activities. GSI was created in partnership with local area school heads and community leaders.

Contact us or visit our website to find out how you can get involved with the Gwango STEM Initiative (GSI), and as always.. a huge thanks for your continued support.. we can't wait to see you soon in Hwange!

Cheers for now,
Elisabeth
