Self-catering bungalows at Kule

So many of the spaces on the Gwango Estate have slowly evolved over time. Many were one thing or a certain way at some point in the past, and now they are completely different spaces and at times some have an entirely different use, or now have additional uses. Kule Camp is one such example. The space has morphed from just a storage or collection space, to a high school STEM Camp for the Gwango Schools initiative, to (for a short time) the place where the anti-poaching dog unit was housed. Now, it has gradually taken on a completely different role once again.

After many years of guests asking for self-catering facilities, Gwango has done it! Set within the same stretch of woodland near Gwango Heritage Resort, the Bungalows at Kule are now complete and ready to welcome guests. Set amidst tall trees and open clearings, each bungalow has been designed as a two bedroom retreat, with a shared living area and a kitchenette. The layout works well for families, small groups or anyone who prefers a bit more space during their stay. This is something that our guests have asked for over the years and now finally has a place at Gwango.

Kule is situated within Gwango Heritage Resort, which means everything else is still within easy reach. Guests staying at Kule can move between their own space and the main lodge facilities without much effort (although the Bungalows at Kule are 700 meters away from the main reception area). The restaurant, pool, front office and activity bookings are all nearby, making it possible to balance independence with access to the wider experience.

What makes Kule stand out is not just the accommodation itself, but how it fits into the broader Gwango environment. You are still within the estate, still close to wildlife and still part of everything happening around you, just with a bit more room to settle in and do things at your own pace.

The Bungalows at Kule add another way to experience Gwango. For some, it will be the flexibility of preparing your own meals. For others, it will be the extra space or the more private setting. Either way, it opens up an option that has been a long time coming.
