In the middle of Las Vegas, where ideas and destinations from around the world came together, Zimbabwe had one very proud representative this year at IMEX America 2025 - Gwango. As the only Zimbabwean exhibitor at IMEX, Gwango stood out. They proudly introduced visitors to experiences that connect business events with nature, culture and local hospitality.
Set up at booth E1107, Gwango drew attention for its distinctive approach to MICE and Incentive Travel. Many stopped by to learn about Hwange’s elephants and the new conference facilities that now make it possible to host up to 250 people in the heart of one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife regions. The combination of modern meeting spaces, luxury accommodations and the immersive beauty of the wild sparked genuine curiosity from event planners and travel professionals from around the world.
Representatives from across the region also found common ground. The CEO of Namibia’s Tourism Authority, who was visiting Namibia’s stand just next door, spoke with Gwango about how Southern African destinations can collaborate more closely to promote regional travel. There was a shared sense of purpose… to make Africa’s extraordinary landscapes and experiences more visible and accessible to the world. Ideas were exchanged across borders, inspired by a mutual respect for the destinations we call home. These kinds of connections are what make IMEX so special.
What stood out most, though, was the pride that followed every conversation. For many attendees, meeting the Gwango team highlighted how much Zimbabwe continues to grow as both a leisure and business destination. People stayed at the booth to talk about what it feels like to host a conference in a place where wildlife still roams freely. Beyond Hwange’s wilderness, Gwango spoke about its urban hosting experiences as well. They shared a lot about Gwango Tamarillo Estate for example, where history, art, local cuisine and comfortable lodge-style rooms give travellers that home-away-from-home feeling and professionals the perfect setting to meet over a good meal.
As the event came to a close, one thing was clear. Gwango’s presence at IMEX was not just to promote its properties, but to also share the story of a country ready to welcome the world. At the end of it all, the feeling was one of connection… between continents, between neighbouring countries and between people. For those who stopped by booth E1107, it was an invitation to experience Zimbabwe in a way they will never forget.
