With Hwange National Park close by and so much to see, plan on spending a fair amount of time here. Sightings can include elephant, buffalo, hyena, giraffe, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, impala, sable and the big cats. Roan, eland, cheetah and leopard are also common here, although sightings are rare. For birders, Gwango is also a spectacular setting, attracting a large number of bird species.

When to visit Gwango Elephant Lodge
Our peak-season is May-December, but during the green season (December-May), Hwange National Park also provides memorable safaris experiences. Game might be a little harder to spot, but the forest is stunning and green providing a botanical and birding experience like no other time of the year. Gwango Elephant Lodge is one of the few luxury lodges in Hwange that stays open all year around.

Payment schedule
A 50% deposit is due to secure your reservation. The remaining balance will be due 60 days prior to arrival, but can be paid any time before that date. When you receive your Booking Summary please check the details carefully and inform Gwango immediately if anything appears incorrect.
Cancellation fee schedule
91-120 days prior to arrival: 20% of total original booking
60-90 days prior to arrival: 50% total original booking
60 days or fewer days prior to arrival: 100% total original booking
Balances are due 60 days prior to arrival. If payment is not received by the due date, deposits are subject to forfeiture and cancellation of the booking, Gwango will treat the booking as cancelled by you. If cancelling party finds someone to take their place, penalties may not apply. Payments can be made by cash, bank transfer or credit card. All other costs incurred during your stay are payable in cash or by card. Personal checks are not accepted. Events beyond our control may result in price increases and surcharges - we reserve the right to pass on these increases.
BOOKING CONDITIONS: The person making a booking at Gwango Elephant Lodge accepts these booking conditions on behalf of everyone in his / her party. If Gwango accepts your booking we will issue a booking summary confirmation document with a link to this page. An agreement will exist between us from the date when we issue the booking confirmation. The following booking conditions will apply:
IF YOU CHANGE YOUR BOOKING: Changes made by you to your booking will incur an amendment fee of up to $50 per guest per amendment.
CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS: Cancellation fees apply to all reservations. The date of cancellation is the date on which Gwango receives the written cancellation. Cancellation fees are as follows:
No refunds will be made if you leave a trip for any reason whatsoever, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, after the trip has begun.
No refunds will be made for accommodation, transport, sightseeing, meals or services not utilised.
No refunds will be made for special packages or discounted promotional packages.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: Travel Insurance is compulsory for all persons staying at Gwango and should provide cover against theft, personal accident, personal liability, medical expenses, repatriation and cancellation of tickets.
RESPONSIBILITY: Gwango reserve the right to cancel any trip prior to departure; in such case, a full refund of all payments will constitute full settlement with the guests.Guests agree to accept the authority of the Gwango guides and staff. Gwango will not accept responsibility or liability for any guest who contravenes any law or regulation of any country visited. Where Gwango provides services it will do so with due care and skill. Gwango acts as agent for transport companies, activities, and other contractors and shall not be liable for any injury, damage, loss, delay or irregularity that may occur. The guest understands that during the course of the trip certain risks may occur, including, but not limited to the hazards of accident or illness in remote places without medical facilities, and the forces of nature.
Wild animals are able to move through the Gwango camps at any time. The guests agree to assume all risks associated with their stay.
YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS: Gwango strongly recommends a visit to your dentist and doctor before your trip. You must ask your doctor about current inoculation requirements. Full details of pre-existing medical conditions must be forwarded to Gwango when you book. You should undertake extra exercise before traveling to Hwange in order to counteract the effects of heat and a change in diet.
