One of Africa's finest new wildlife destinations

Greetings friends,

When I speak with people from around the world about Gwango, almost always, they're shocked! Their usual response is "why would you build a place in Zimbabwe"?

The fact is that most people (who have not been here) think Zimbabwe is somehow a frightening, horrible place... but in reality, its quite the opposite! When you come here, you'll find that Zimbabwe is a magnificent, vibrant country with impressive national parks and beautiful welcoming people.

Zimbabwe is easy to access, by road or by a number of daily flights. The major airport closest to Gwango is Victoria Falls International Airport, which will have even more to offer this year, incuding a brand new terminal.

Once you are here, getting around is relatively easy. The road from Victoria Falls to Hwange is a good, wide tarred road and fuel stations are abundant. Maps are also easy to find (or you can always ask a friendly Zimbabwean for directions)

Hwange National Park is a stone's throw away from Gwango and even within the Gwango estate, you can expect close encounters with elephant, lion, buffalo, a range of antelopes, zebra, giraffe and the famous painted dogs. You'll also see a large number of bird species.

The forest, the people and the wildlife surrounding Gwango are important Zimbabwean resources, which is why we've created Gwango Heritage Resort, a local place for culture, conservation and learning.

Accommodation is never a problem here. In fact, one of the greatest features at Gwango, is not only our location (next to Hwange National Park), but the selection of accommodation options available to our guests - from affordable camping, to secluded luxury villas.

And, if cruising down the Zambezi or seeing "Mosi-oa-Tunya" is on your wish list, we'll gladly arrange day trips to Victoria Falls or Msuna Island. We can even plan a combo trip with overnight stays at either of these spectacular destinations.

When you're hungry, there is no shortage of places to eat at Gwango. The Stone House and the Giraffe Lounge are reserved exclusively for guests staying in Tree Top Villas and Forest Chalets. Gourmet meals are served around an impressive rustic teak dining table or al fresca.

Opening on April 15th for our guests staying in Gwango Bush Tents and Campsites, or for anyone visiting Hwange, Gobelo Market Place offers an excellent menu and a truly unique dining experience, reflecting the creativity of our talented Executive Chef. We'll be waiting to serve you daily for breakfast, lunch/dinner from 6am to 9pm. Breakfast is served until 11am.

It's really quite simple - Zimbabwe should be at the top of everyone's list of holiday destinations, and if you're yearning for a departure from the ordinary - Gwango is just for you!

Cheers for now,
Elisabeth
