A safari vehicle for Ashley

Some of you will remember back in the day when Gwango had only one safari truck - the old Unimog. Ah! What adventures we have on these sandy roads. Well.. much has changed.. one classic Cruiser at a time. Gwango now has built up quite a collection of unique safari vehicles.

The process goes like this. We stumbled upon an abandon old truck that catches Danny’s eye. It somehow (even without an engine) makes its way to our workshop at the camp (..YES WE HAVE A WORKSHOP NOW). A few weeks later, the old truck gets stripped down to its nuts!  Okay.. we didn’t mean to put it that way..!

A few months and lots of HARD work later, the vehicle is transformed into what looks like this beautiful, fully refurbishing FJ 45 Landcruiser that’s about to be commissioned for safaris, under the capable hands of our new female guide, Ashley. She joined our team recently and is breaking the norm in a male dominated field (we’re so proud of you Ashley!).

We have an amazing team of in-house mechanics who get hands on with every aspect of the rebuild on our bush machines - from wiring to engine work, paint and the signature wooden roofs that are all Gwango. It’s all done here for you… Come and see!
